Kurt Cobain's Daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, Blows Through Her $11 Million Inheritance

Kurt Cobain’s daughter Frances Bean Cobain admits she blew through her $11-million inheritance before getting sober and getting a grip on managing her money. Until then, the Nirvana legend’s daughter says she was used to “living beyond your means.”

It took Frances “stepping away” from that type of lifestyle – plus getting sober – to realize that money isn’t “permanent, no matter how much you think you have.” Frances was just two when Kurt died, left a trust that gives her around $100K per month… and her relationship with money is complicated. Frances says the inheritance feels like a “big, giant loan I’ll never get rid of,” something she “didn’t earn” that comes from someone she “never met.”

But after getting sober, she’s taking “real accountability” for her money and has cut back on her spending – like ditching the luxury UberXX’s for a regular ride. “I’d like to say that within the last two years I have taken real accountability for every single thing,” she says. “Talking to the people in charge of my money and having in-depth meetings as well as recognising that you don’t have to live lavishly in order to live well.
