Nebraska designated hitter Devin Nunez was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week by the conference office Monday for his work at the Frisco Collegiate Baseball Classic. Nunez, a Navasota, Texas, native, celebrated his return to his home state by pacing the Huskers’ offense, hitting 7-for-14 with a home run and three RBI. He homered against Kansas State Sunday and collected three hits against No. 2 LSU Saturday.
Nunez and the Nebraska baseball team will have an extra day off this week, after it was announced that Tuesday’s game at Omaha was postponed due to expected bad weather. The game will be made up April 2 at Tal Anderson Field in Omaha.
