Gary Sharp
Gary Sharp has been a familiar voice on KOZN for the last nine years. He joined the station after 16 years of sports marketing experience working with such franchises as the Fort Myers Miracle, Minnesota Twins, Wheeling Nailers, and the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Sharp began his career serving as pre-game host, sideline reporter, locker room host, and sports talk show host for the Nebraska Sports Network. During that time, he was also the play-by-play voice for Nebraska Baseball and the Lincoln Stars. Sharp continues to do play-by-play for Omaha Men’s Basketball and does TV work for Cox and Midco. He can also be heard on the station’s coverage of the College World Series.
The Urbandale, Iowa native has been recognized by his peers as the Nebraska Sportscaster of the Year and has collected numerous marketing/promotion awards from Major League Baseball.
Gary is active in the community with Big Brothers-Big Sisters of the Midlands and other service projects.
Jimmy Chavez
Jimmy Chavez has dedicated his career to the radio broadcasting industry for more than 20 years. He has served in a variety of roles including play-by-play broadcaster, show host, update anchor, and reporter. He recently spent the seven seasons calling games for the University of Kansas, including NCAA Tournament games, for the women’s basketball team. During his time with the Jayhawk Radio network, he also has filled in, calling men’s basketball and football, and served as a sideline reporter for football.
A native of San Antonio, Texas, Jimmy earned his broadcast journalism degree at the University of Kansas. He has worked in the radio industry in multiple Kansas cities, including Colby, Wichita, and Lawrence. He also worked within the Kansas City Metro and nationally in Houston, Texas. He currently does freelance play-by-play in the Omaha Metro and hosts the Creighton Bluejay Shootaround pregame show.
Jimmy married into a native Husker family. When he’s not talking about Nebraska sports, he likes to remind people about his other favorite team – the Kansas Jayhawks, specifically the Jayhawk football team. Jimmy also cheers for his two favorite Texas teams, the San Antonio Spurs and begrudgingly, the Dallas Cowboys.
Jimmy and his wife are proud parents to a spoiled rotten Yorkie named Baylee.
